Woodward Academy | College Park, GA
Woodward Academy is the oldest independent school in Atlanta and the largest in the continental United States. It occupies facilities and property from its origins as Georgia Military Academy, founded in 1900 with an enrollment of 30 boys.
The Academy has two campuses that support enrollment of over 2500 students, ranging from Pre-K through 12th grade. The facilities included in this assignment are comprised of 36 buildings on 2 campuses and facility elements (approximately 930,000 sf) on 133 acres of land area that also includes playing fields for soccer, tennis, football, and baseball.
Woodward Academy’s 2011 assessment was performed by a third party and the reported results were underwhelming per school leadership. The school engaged Building Solutions to complete a new assessment. This assignment proved more usable for Facilities Department operations planning than the 2011 report by providing leadership with a more objective, expert assessment of the condition of buildings and grounds which guided their capital budgeting and maintenance efforts. The assessment also supported their long-term capital replacement plan and validated facilities operations maintenance practices.
The contained data was deemed “actionable” by the Facilities Department and served as a financial and business office management tool.
